SBA Community Navigators — $100M Federal Pilot
Grants Management Specialist on a $100M federal pilot program. Personally managed a $20M grantee portfolio across 50+ organizations, from application review through closeout.
How it unfolded
- Review
- Award
- Onboard
- Monitor
- Close out
Read and scored applications against the program criteria.
Set up the awards and got funding to the selected organizations.
Walked 50+ organizations through the federal requirements with SOPs and short videos.
Kept an eye on performance, spending, and reimbursements across the portfolio.
Reconciled and closed the awards so they'd hold up to an audit.
The SBA was standing up a $100M pilot and needed to bring on more than 50 organizations, a lot of them new to federal funding. The hard part was helping them follow the rules without overwhelming them.
I handled a $20M slice of the portfolio — reviewing applications, processing awards, monitoring performance and reimbursements, and closing things out. To keep it manageable, I wrote plain-language SOPs and recorded short videos people could go back to when questions came up.
Groups that had never managed a federal award were able to run their programs and stay compliant. The guides and videos kept getting used after I rolled off, which I was glad to see.
